Anonymous asked: never fished for redfish before. what are a couple of the top baits and/or lures? do you fish on bottom or suspended? do you troll if you have boat?

Any help would be nice.
Thanks in advance!

When fishing for Reds, always use a metal line leader with the hook approximately 12” from a barrel weight. The weight then will be on the bottom but your bait is above. Shrimp and Crawfish are the choice baits for Reds. However one can use almost any type of silver spoon. Live shad, perch and tilapia are also good baits. The difference between fishing with live baits versus lures depends on whether the fish are suspended or feeding close to the bottom.
