Anonymous asked: I'm new to fishing, so how should I rig up my line to catch red drum in the lake?
Fishing for Reds:Red fish have 2 sets of teeth, one at opening of mouth, second set is in their throat. When feeding on crawfish they strike high upon the bait so the second set of teeth crushes the head of crawfish. Therefore always use a metal leader rather than monafilament. The 2 or 3 ounce weight can be either at top or bottom with live bait approximately 12” frrom the weight. This also applies to using shrimp, shad, or live baits. Fishing from a boat in this hot weather the last several weeks, Fisherman are using rattle trap (3/4 ) in 30’ of water, allow lure to drop 15 ‘, then with rod tip held down retrieve at a relative fast pace and the big reds will nail the lure. Good Luck!
